2008 Zythos Bier Festival, Belgium. Unpleasant aroma that reminds me of a kitchen sink, soapy and metallic. Appearance also not great, muddy brown with no head. The flavour is quite rich and vinous with a little maltiness and a sharp bite at the end.

(Rating #1436)

(Bottle) Pours a cloudy dark brown body with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, sour grape, cherry, mineral, and chocolate. Flavor of vinous, plum, light smoke, toasted malt, and raisins.

My Bottom Line:
Chocolatey malts become one with the bready yeast in this docile Abbey Dubbel. Its finish is devoid of tasty consequences, but its delicate fruity esters and well-fed mouthfeel add to the enjoyment.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam settles on top of the cloudy brown.
-Effervescence is rather active, but keeps servicing the pillowy mouthfeel.
-The flavor profile is quite straightforward; there aren’t any surprises here once you’ve smelled it.
-A slightly mineral touch appears in the aroma once in a while.

Bottle; best before December 2009.

Hazy brown hue, with a fluffy tan-colored head, yeasty, fruity, spicy nose of nutmeg, coriander, with some toasted, caramelized malts, with a faint chocolatey cookie dough accent, with some raisiny, plummy notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with yeasty, toasty, chocolatey character, with some spicy nutmeg, coriander, curaçao accents, with a faint fruity note of dry chocolatey coated raisins, with some candi sugar sweetness, leading towards a malty, spicy, warmth finish.
