(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with firm beige head. Malty, spicy nose with dark fruit, ginger biscuits, cinnamon and coriander seed. Malty taste with dark fruit, chocolate, hints of coffee, spicy notes of cinnamon and coriander. Slightly sweetish, but balanced. Nice brune, above average for the style.

330ml bottle (Mallaskukko, Turku) Very dark brown, light barely shines through it. Very complex aroma. Slightly marmitey. Smoked fish on rye-bread too. Very savoury taste, strong darkly roasted malt. Quite spicey and herby. Anna (a yank) says "taco seasoning". Very unusual.

330ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. Brown beer with a refreshing acidic quality. Nothing sharp or bloody like the aged or Oud bruins from Flanders, but heading in that direction. There’s a nice fruity touch to this. Hop bitterness is low - most of the character coming from the action of the yeast on the dark malts. Hints of chocolate, drops of thin blood, rusty tin, and orange zest. Wrapped up well. Both interesting and refreshing. A damn fine drink.

Wonderful Brune! Delicious! A very complex flavour, somewhat reminicent of Oerbier. An absolute favourite!
