Clayish minerally up-front, sweet chocolate, licorice, herbal earthy hops. Citric, metallic finish and aftertaste. Deceptively light body, sparkly - feels a but too thin on the palate though, in my mind a Dubbel is somewhat creamy. FrankJohansen (3370), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark

Aroma gives forest fruits, brambels and blackberrys, giving a vinous tartness, a little aging too. Taste is similar with a little almonds from what seems to eb the agingness. Outstanding. hughie (3075), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Dark brown and full of sediment. The head is off-white and diminishes quickly. Aroma has yeast, dark fruit and a little vinegar. Lots of taste; something different seemed to emerge every sip. A chocolate, porter-type taste was the main feature, but there was also sourness, yeast, liquorice, a sweet maltiness and some background bitterness. CaptainCougar (5522), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Dark semi-sweet malty aroma has a touch of tart dark fruit and mild oxidation. Body starts with nice malty sweetness and good spice balance with some bready yeastiness. An enjoyable Belgian brown ale. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

Sweet aroma of aged malt and mollasses. Flavor starts a little sweet and fruity and finishes up dry. Light carbonation. I believe this bottle had a few years on it. TBone (6844), Pori, Finland
