MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 16, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Chocolatey malts become one with the bready yeast in this docile Abbey Dubbel. Its finish is devoid of tasty consequences, but its delicate fruity esters and well-fed mouthfeel add to the enjoyment.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam settles on top of the cloudy brown.
-Effervescence is rather active, but keeps servicing the pillowy mouthfeel.
-The flavor profile is quite straightforward; there aren’t any surprises here once you’ve smelled it.
-A slightly mineral touch appears in the aroma once in a while.
Bottle; best before December 2009.

Pours a nice, redish brown with a giant, creamy, yellow-beige head. Aroma is sweet, lots of dried fruits, chocolate and toffee. A great creamy mouthfeel, pretty dry, actually. Wonderful flavours, great chocolate, lightly roasted and some good yeast. Fine cocoa dryness in the finish. Very nice beer. The Beer floods out of the bottle, and goes on and on. The head is very weak and quickly disappearing. The color is beautiful red mahogany. The aroma is sourish with notes of roasted malt, dark sourish fruits, slightly dry citrus and light candy sugar. The overall impression is a bit disturbed by the sourness IMO. daniele (827), Italy Apr 30, 2008 scura schiuma purtroppo nella mia bottiglia inesistente sentori maltati caramello tostati spezie erbaceo lieve fruttato beerbuzzmontreal (2743), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2008 Pours a murky brown color with a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, fruits, yeast and mild smoke. Good flavor of caramel and yeast with some mild fruits. The body is medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. A good dubbel.
