sayravai (3186), Helsinki, Finland Aug 7, 2005 (Bottled) Opaque dark brown with a small, lasting, lacy head. Perfumy aroma of malt, syrup and dried fruit, as well as decent amount of hops and hints of anise. Strongly burned-malty, ashy flavor with hints of coffee and a bitter, dryish finish. Feels like a color-malt overdose. Medium-bodied, a bit thin and foamy-carbonated palate. Not very balanced or enjoyable dubbel, thanks to the excess color malts.

Pours a nice, redish brown with a giant, creamy, yellow-beige head. Aroma is sweet, lots of dried fruits, chocolate and toffee. A great creamy mouthfeel, pretty dry, actually. Wonderful flavours, great chocolate, lightly roasted and some good yeast. Fine cocoa dryness in the finish. Very nice beer. The Beer floods out of the bottle, and goes on and on. The head is very weak and quickly disappearing. The color is beautiful red mahogany. The aroma is sourish with notes of roasted malt, dark sourish fruits, slightly dry citrus and light candy sugar. The overall impression is a bit disturbed by the sourness IMO. daniele (839), Italy Apr 30, 2008 scura schiuma purtroppo nella mia bottiglia inesistente sentori maltati caramello tostati spezie erbaceo lieve fruttato beerbuzzmontreal (2747), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2008 Pours a murky brown color with a thin white head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, fruits, yeast and mild smoke. Good flavor of caramel and yeast with some mild fruits. The body is medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. A good dubbel.
