(Bottled@Kerstbierfestival 2007, Essen) Clear dark ruby (no yeast) with a small, partly lasting head. Sweetish-grainy-dark-malty aroma with cloves and cardamom-anisey herbs. Grainy-malty, roasty-burned flavor with an ashy finish. Some licorice with smoother ashiness when it warms up. Medium-bodied with quite low carbonation. At first it was not that nice, but by drinking more and getting it warm, it turned out quite pleasant.

Bottle at Het Waterhuis aan de Bierkant, Gent, 07-12-07 Loz was unimpressed with this beer so passed a three quarter glass over to me in exchange for my one quarter of Klokke Roeland (think I did well there) Molasses or burnt sugar, honey and thyme on the nose of this muddy dark brown beer. The honey and thyme dominate the taste but like Loz I was not overly impressed.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of madsberg. Hazy, orangey brown with a beige head. Distinct aroma of ginger - or is it rather the thyme? Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, very spicy - ginger again - while the finish is dry. 270607

Bottle. A red brown beer with a big beige head. The aroma is sweet and of malt, fruits and spices, so is the taste but with some cookie to it. Medium body with a sweet finish.
