Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 26, 2008 Good sized active off-white head of fine bubbles. Fruity and yeasty aroma with some grains, a hint of tart cherry, some woody notes and maybe some raspberry. Color is a hazy dark mahogany brown. Lively in the mouth, with some toasted grains, more tart cherry, a bit of oak, raisins and some peat. Very complex flavor and pretty darn smooth. Noticeable alcohol presence that warms as it goes down. Finishes pretty clean with some lingering herbal notes and light fruit. A pretty good Belgian ale. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2008 750 ml bottle poured a hazy orange amber with a lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of apple, plum, spice, carmel and light honey. Palate wasmedium bodied and smooth. Flavors of apple, plum, spice and light brown sugar with a smooth fruity finish. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 19, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a moderate off-white head that faded to a ring after mid-glass and left partial lace all the way to the end. Pleasant aroma of Belgian yeast and malt. The flavor is again Belgian yeast and malt with some mild sweetness as well. Enjoyable. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 18, 2008 had at Coles with swoopjones brownish amber color, had never heard or this brewery was niceley surprised, nose is definate cherry and dried fruit, very sweet. flavor is similar but i really enjoyed this one, thanx again swoopjones swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 18, 2008 Bottled shared with tomthompson. Liked but not overly crazy about it Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle thanks to Robert at Stateline. Poured a nice amber/brown with ncie head. Aroma is spice and yeast. Taste is sweet, candy, yeast, and spice. Texture was very carbonated but a nice mouth feel overall. GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle shared by robert. Light orange in color decent head. Lots of carbonation when it hits the mouth. I always hate that. The taste was still good. Sweet candy sugar, spices light dark fruity taste. Texture was good, more on the light side. The carbonation level is the only thing that bothered me. But overall a decent beer. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours brown, beige head.
Aroma is yeasty, giving it some spicy notes.
Taste is sugary (blend of cane and crystal sugar), malty and spicy.
The sugar process is all over as is the yeast. Nice and smooth, easy to sip on.
A very fine beer.
