dmac (1417), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jun 1, 2008 750 ml cork and caged bottle flown up to NJ by Roscoe, thanks man for this suprise hook up. Aroma is very sweet and sugary with notes of white grapes, honey, raisin and sugar. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a sweet finish, go figure all those sweet aromas and this one finishes on the sweet side...shocker!! Flavor is grapes, yeast, sugar, and slight maltiness but has an overall dryness about it somehow. This is a pleasant beer but after having the Sly Fox Incubus first, one of my faves, this one just falls a little short. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 1, 2008 Bottle: Courtesy of beerlando...thanks Bryan. Murky amber color with a massive rocky tan head. Pleasant bready malts, belgian yeast, spiced citrus notes in the nose with hints of clove. Very quaffable, heavily carbonated mouth feel...flavor consists of some biscuity malts, clove and bananas. Very good stuff. TeamTrappist (362), jericho, New York, USA May 31, 2008 750ml bottle. Med brown and cloudy color. Very light nose, some typical belgian scents. Overall found this to be pretty sweet, with a nice overall flavor. Belgian yeasts were also noticeable. Very nice smooth finish, but very short lived. GG (1609), NorCal, California, USA May 30, 2008 Updated: May 31, 2008After their disastrous turn at a saison, I was a little apprehensive about trying this. Thankfully, what I got was a nice little BSA that was quite a surprise. The beer pours out a amberish/orange color with a nice, 3-finger thick head. Aroma was sweet malts/fruity character with a peppery profile that I enjoyed. Taste had mostly the same profile as the aroma, but it had some subtle funkiness to it. Don’t know if that was by accident or infection, but for now it worked. Medium mouth feel with a smooth body. Again, not bad after the train wreck that is their saison. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 29, 2008 Really great brews so far soming from this brewery. I really enjoyed this one. I could definitely drink a whole 750 by myself. Aroma and taste is very sweet with light hints of bitterness. Very smooth going down and easy to drink. Some belgian sweetness is very nice. Mild spice and very fruity. Nice body and color of caramel. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA May 26, 2008 Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This Belgian Strong ale pours a deep orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, with a touch of sour/tartness. Medium bodied BSA. The malts are fruity and sweet with some sourness. For some reason I am picking up some artificial banana flavors here as well. The tartness is nice, but I don’t think it should be there. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 26, 2008 Hazy amber. Fruity, with a touch of footiness. Fizzy carbonation. Some figgy, fruity notes and light caramel. A bit too yeasty for my liking, but I’ll be giving this a re-rate down the road.
KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 25, 2008 Bottle via Beerlando. Light, hazy orange color. Smell of lemon, yeast, hops, zest and spicy pepper. Taste of yeast, hops, lemon zest, citrus and flowers.
