Flavor is very fruity with apricot, apples, pear, hops, and a light biscuit taste. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Feb 7, 2009 Bottle acquired via the generosity of Sparky27. Eric is the most generous guy on the site...THANKS!!! Copper penny pour with a bit of rusty nail around the edges and a frothy ivory head. Aroma exhibits a nice grassiness, along with raisin, brown sugar, and spice. Flavor is definitely belgian-inspired with yeasty, biscuity qualities, spice, and even a brett-like sourness. Medium mouthfeel and unique. Liked this one alot!!!
nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 6, 2009 "A beautiful beer," said the guy at Beer Table before he gladly took my $25 (ouch!) for the 750ml bottle. Copper color with lasting beige head. Aroma is brown sugar, dark fruits, spices, and earth. Good dark malts and yeast, some fruitiness and slight sour notes. Great full mouthfeel. daknole (2800), Plantation, Florida, USA Jan 27, 2009 Poured at the Juptier brewfest. Copper pour. Medium white head. Aroma is very malty and has some great apple notes along with some spices. Flavor is tart apple, malt, woodsy notes and a bit of a dry finish. Very nice. JPDIPSO (4862), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 27, 2009 Copper to burnt orange in color. Diminished head of khaki bubbles with just a few on the rim and adrift in the middle of the glass. Musty fruit and grain in the aromas along with light oak, apple skins and hints of higher alcohols. Each pour gets a bit better looking with a little haze, a slightly darker hue and some better head retention. Mildly earthy caramel in the front. Light malt and caramel seem to float through into the middle. Fairly light palate for the heft with some nice soft effervescence. The deeper I get into this one, the more I feel like I’m dealing with s strong dubbel (not necessarily a bad thing). Yeast and attic dust seem to float in and out as well as some lime zest and resin. Rather funky brew with a significant amount of complexity. I’ll say this is one in which the whole seems better than the parts. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Jan 24, 2009 Copper pour with a small off white head. Aromas of sweet malts and light fruits. The flavors include light fruits like apples and pears along with some spices and a touch of alcohol comes through at the finish. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 24, 2009 750 ml. Mostly clear copper with a lasting eighth-inch of cream. Aroma is sweet earth: musty, tart apples and berries baked in nutmeg and brown sugar. Flavor is similar, but has more of the musty-tart apple and brown sugar, with hints at vinegar. Some toasted oak and nut in the finish. Medium body is fairly smooth and slightly dryish in the end.
