Commercial Description:
Lectio Divina is a cross between an abbey double and a saison. Open fermentation with a saison strain and a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

bottle. copper colored body, hazy and a few yeast particles, with a frothy foamy medium tan head. aroma is yeasty bready sweet malt like tart apple cider, valenica oranges in the fall, plums, and some chardonnay. flavor is lightly spiced caramel malt, tart like over-ripe apple cider, and and bready like water biscuits. lots of folks are unimpressed but I enjoyed this almost as much as a Fanotme or a Jolly Pumpkin.

750 bottle. Corked. Served in a smokestack chalice. Beer slightly chilled. There was a good pop when the cork came out. Muddy brown, small head. Dark fruits, dark caramel, and some spiciness in the aroma. Mouthfeel is good, lots of carbonation present in the beer. The flavor is quite good, lots of complexity. Very drinkable. Dark fruits (raisons, dates, and prunes), sweet malt, spice (clove ? maybe allspice?) and warming alcohol near the end.

750ML bottle courtesy of gunhaver. Plan for 10 minutes to even get this one open. Getting the cork cage off proved to be very difficult, the wire broke. Getting the cork out was a task as well, had to use a wine bottle opener. I"ve heard that the new bottles have better corks. Pours a hazy brown color with very little head that quickly disappears. Aroma of fruit, yeast, spices, and a little funkiness. Taste of fruit, malt, earthiness, a subtle sourness. Interesting brew, but not great.

Thanks to BeerLando for the 750ml bottle. Cloudy dark orange color with a large head. Aroma was yeasty (banana) with caramel malt and a hint of spice. Very sweet flavor, medium body and kind of boring.

Bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a two finger lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of yeast, citrus, yeast spice, and very light caramel. Taste is citrus, yeast, light yeast spice, and very light caramel. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry with a mild amount of bitterness and light spicy finish. Very good.

Sampled at Wazoo 2007. Not the greatest way to sample this beer (from a plastic cup), but all the flavor was there. Delightful and filling.

4-6-08 bottle shared at tasting
Thick orange brown in color with a nice ivory beige head. Smell is lemon and some funky malt as well. Light and thin flavor that reminds me of watered down duck sauce. Thin and unenjoyable.

Poured a light amber color no head or lacing. Aroma was peppery and grapes/pears. Flavor was much the same some other fruit in there. Mouthfeel was flat big time. This bottle wasn’t good, not sure if it was a bad bottle.
