Commercial Description:
Lectio Divina is a cross between an abbey double and a saison. Open fermentation with a saison strain and a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

Wow big head and big carbonation here. Pours is murky reddish brown with a quickly dissipating offwhite head. Distinct yeast aroma and some sweet caramel. Flavor is red fruit up front a bit of cinnamon spice that all fades to a musty sort of flavor from the yeast. That must and fruit stick to your palate for a bit. There is a hint of caramel sweetness working in the background as well. The texture again is pretty bubbly with the carbonation. Pleasantly surprised by this one. Who wants to send me the oaked version?

Bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a two finger lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of yeast, citrus, yeast spice, and very light caramel. Taste is citrus, yeast, light yeast spice, and very light caramel. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry with a mild amount of bitterness and light spicy finish. Very good.

750mL bottle, courtesy of artusory. Thanks, Ryan! Pours a hazy, bright orange color; perimeter of off-white bubbles at the edges. Very pleasant aroma, showing esters and chewy bananas and Belgian sugars; soft and creamy nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: red fruit, bananas, and chewy esters; solid chewiness and plenty of sugar, but resists being sticky sweet; good yeast character, with a medium, yeasty and vanilla finish. Tasty stuff.

Bottle from New Beer in Manhattan. Nice amber pour with a light tan head that won’t quit- great retention, with moderate to heavy active carbonation. Got a good amount of citrus peel in the aroma with some light belgian yeast character- the aroma could have been a bit stronger. Citrus and molasses in the taste up front, with some toasted/crystal malt and mild brown sugar, Some light gtainy astringency, but not too bad. Finishes with a light bitterness and touches of spice.

Bottle. Thanks to mcbackus for sending me this one. After the twist off helmet broke it took me a good 10 minutes to pry it off so I could pop the cap, this one was worth it. Poured a medium brown body with thin head. Aroma is dried fruit, plums, and candied sugar. Flavor is dried fruit, plums, candied sugar, light melons and earthy tones. Very drinkable and quite nice. Thanks Matt.

Thanks to durhambeer. Pours a ruddy ruby orange with a two finger creamy orange head. The nose is sweet, apples, cinnamon, apple sauce, sweet spices. Nice fruity aroma. The flavor is very fruity, lots of sweet spice, cinnamon and nutmeg, apple, lightly warming alcohol, apple cider, has a lite tartness. Nice mouthfeel, finishes sweet and warm.

25.4 oz bottle. Cloudy garnet brown with a super foamy, smooth beige head. Nose is sour cherry, floral, oak and toffee. Lively, tickling carb gives this a pleasant airy quality without being watery. Taste is apple and toffee with yeast, honey and hints of citrus.

9/19/2008: Saint Somewhere Lectio Divina has a cloudy, golden appearance. There is some sediment suspended in the beer and it is topped by a beige-colored head. This beer has a sweet grape/champagne aroma with a flavor that is slightly sweet and contains complex fruit and malt and a hint of alcohol. There is a tinge of alcohol is theis medium-bodied, smooth brew. Overall this beer is very well-rounded and tasty.
