750 ml bottles

After almost having my eye taken out by an eager cork I waited for the gushing to stop. Finally it was safe to try this fabulous saison which I wish was available in Ohio. Someone needs to start working on that as soon as the brewery has the capacity to expand again. I’d buy it if that were the case. You should too.

Aroma / Appearance - A white one finger head settled above a carbonated cloudy body. Banana, wheat, cloves, peppery spices and a strong funk melded into a very solid combination. It reminded me of a slightly aged Jolly Pumpkin beer.

Flavor / Palate - Thick and dense the mouthfeel contained wheat amongst funky undertones. The only flaw was a little medicinal aspect in the middle. After that it redeemed itself with a great orange finish. I wish all saisons were done this well. If so it would be a style that I’d drink much more often.

Bottle - new batch. Thanks to Mcbackus for the bottle. Poured a cloudy golden body with nice head on it. Aroma is light fruit, spices. Flavor is a nice blend of spices, floral hops, and light fruit - nectarines. Nice mouthfeel.

The Dan Journal #220. Tasted 8/7/08. 750ml cork and cage. Hazy with a dull golden hue. Dense. Thick ring of white head. Big nose! Spicy banana yeast with notes of pepper and fennel. Citrus and melons as well. Lacing head. Rather full bodied with a spicy palate. Astringent and acidic. Cloying finish. Rolling complex palate. Banana yeast and clove. Nutmeg and metallic. Graham crackers and peppery. Chalky. Touch estery. Mildly warming. Tasty! Thanks Keir!

A cloudy yellow appearance with a large white head. The aroma flat out stinks with some skunk and barnyard notes. The flavor contains some lemons and vinegar. This one is a little off. Overall different but not too enjoyable

Saved this one for a while, golden hue slightly hazy, fluffy white head, nice lacing, very cinnamon smell and taste to aftertaste, there is a hint of apple mildew or barnyard. It is good not great, the best thing I have had from FL so far.

750 ml bottle. Hazy yellow/orange body with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy and yeasty. Flavor is fruity, citrus, spicy, coriander and some esters. Quite original, but well balanced. The first sips made me a bit confused, then I start enjoying it, and at the bottom of the bottle I found it quite quaffable.
