Powdery, peppery, apricot-fruity aroma. Great label, moderately cloudy applesauce color with a three inch head in an hourglass pilsener. Spicy and herb-floral - tastes like marigolds, notes of turmeric. Very light vinegar. Medium light body, spritzy mouthfeel that starts getting slippery as the CO2 burns off. Finishes out with black pepper burn. Enjoyable and unusual. Market Square Liquors, Killearn.

bottle, from carolina crew get together, provided by JCB. Great aroma, sweet & fruity, Like Warm apple pie with a funk streak. Pale hazed yellowy gold color, Small head, minor lace. Aroma take a turn for the worse, fruitiness faded and yeastiness funk and spice come on stronger. Lite body, watery mouthfeel, lite creaminess about it. Dry finish. Aroma was fun, after that not so much.

750 ml cork and caged bottle that blew the cork into the ceiling just seconds after the cage was removed, the Lectio Divina did this as well so be careful these puppies are under some serious presure. Pours a super hazy yellow witha large fizzy white head that quickly dispiates. Aroma is really spicey on this one, white pepper, yeast, and more pepper. Flavor is very similiar to the aroma with spicey pepper and yeast dominating with some underlying citrus and grain as well. Very full bodied with lots and lots of carbonation on this puppy. Big thanks to Roscoe for flying this one up from FL on his last visit, and bringing 2 bottles as well plus the Lectio Divina.

Sampled at OSLO/Guerde tasting. Thanks Joebrew!

I’ve been looking forward to trying something from St. Somewhere. The pour here is clear orange with an average white head. Interesting take. I do not get a lot of the typical brett or sourness typical for this style. More mint, cinnamon, and some piney hops. Very odd beer. Not bad, but how one considers this a saison is beyond me.

This could be one of the worst saisons I’ve ever had. It was a first though. I’ve never had a beer that had the aroma of cotto salami, yet here it was. How the hell does a brewer get that? I mean, it’s pretty awful (the beer, not cotto salami). The aroma aside, the beer pours out an orangish color with a bit of floaties swimming around. Slightly sweet and spicy on the palate, there really is little else to say about this beer. Just a really poor example of a saison.

(bottle shared by Joebrew) Pours light hazy gold with a white head. The most dominant smell I get is a freshly baked cinnamon roll. There’s not much else going on in the aroma, but the cinnamon roll scent was definitely pleasant enough to warrant an 8. The taste doesn’t live up to the aroma, there’s a little bit of sweetness there and some cinnamon, but all of the flavors are rather muted. Medium mouthfeel.

Small sample at OSLO and Guerde’s tasting on Friday, 5-23-08. Pours a pale, effervescent yellow. Sour, dry aroma features salt and lemon scents. Dull flavor. I’m not getting a lot out of this beer in terms of taste. Forgettable palate. Much better aroma than flavor in my opinion. I may have been suffering from burnt-out palate by this point in the tasting.

thanks drewbeerme for the oportuinty to try this beer...well I thought it smelled like a lemon soda with a bit of ginger ale mixed in...the mouthfeel was fairly light and spritzy though I think this was a bit sweet for the style it was drinkable....but not something I would seek out again.....the flavors were of grainy malt and lemony gingeryish....and finished sweet
