PorterPounder (2749), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 Orlando, Fl. - Knightly Spirits - 750 ml caged corked bottle. Pours a brilliant golden that is slightly murky and bubbly. Topped with an everlasting silky, creamy snow white head. Aroma is full of spices and herbs - cloves, cinnamon and some unknown herb - reminds me of a cross between an organic health food coop and an independent record store that sells a lot of "paraphernalia" - all in all - earthy and bold. Full-bodied, thirst quenching and bold flavor with some fruit forward notes dominated by pears. Spices are found with some of the same ones found in the aroma dominated by cinnamon. A pleasant butteriness permeates throughout. A bit of yeastiness makes its way into the back end. Mouthfeel is creamy, yet spritzy at the same time. A most enjoyable Saison - highly recommended by SoLan - thanks for the tip. Will keep my eyes out for these guys as they hopefully expand across th sate.
MI2CA (1033), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 750ml - thanks SoLan - Aroma of spicy yeast, sour fruit, lemon, hay and bubblegum. Pours cloudy gold with a medium head and good soapy lacing. Flavor of clove, ginger, coriander, bready yeast and sour citrus fruits. Alcohol makes an appearance. Palate is tart and sharp. Different from a traditional saison in the fact that it is very spicy and a tad too strong on the alcohol, but refreshing and tasty nonetheless. bdigi66 (400), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 24, 2008 Bottle: Pours a clear golden color with an extremely active white head. The cork about took my eye out incidentally on this one...be careful. Light malt nose with notes of lemongrass, hay, light floral hops and a mild pepper tone. Very interesting brew, unlike any other saison I’ve had but not in a bad way. Slightly sour start leads to a funky sweet finish with notes of flowers, pepper and sweet malts. kiefdog (272), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 75cl bottle from Jans Wine and Boos #2 (Tampa, FL). Rated on 3/11/08. Pours a cloudy golden color with one finger white head. Reasonable head retention and glass lacing. Aroma is slightly musty with notes of dandelion, sweet malt, honey, spice, flowers. Flavor notes include lemon, banana, kiwi, other ripe fruit, spice. Medium-bodied with a slight bitter finish. greenleaf (71), Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 bottle corked and caged. A very nice example of a saison. Peppery and spicey. Beautifully engaged with the hops and malt profile. From florida this is an amazing beer, the warm weather permits! MrBendo (967), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jun 17, 2008 Thanks to BeerLando for the 750ml bottle. Cloudy amber color with a medium head. Aroma is intensely floral with spice (chamomile, ginger, cinnamon) and yeast. Some lemon and pepper in the taste. There’s some brett, and a lot of lite fruit. This is a very intense and endlessly interesting saison.
