| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2004 Heavenly barnyard aromatics with wet horseblanket and leather at the forefront. Cloudy/hazy yellow and a large frothy off-white head to boot. Flavours of fruit, musty oak, and sour apples are most prominent, spices are blended together as only nine years can accomplish. Sour, funky to the nth degree, and spicey too. The resulting elixer is absolutely the best Saison I’ve experienced so far! IPFreely, Thanks for bringing this delightful treat! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2004 For a saison relatively clean aroma, age did good job softening characteristics. Appearance of cloudy yellow amber. Sour at first sip, medium bodied, sweeter at finish. Slightly metallic at finish or could it be anise? Pleasant. GregClow (2499), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 21, 2004 1995 vintage. Hazy golden-orange colour with a frothy white head. Aroma is big, funky, cheesy, spicey, sour and barnyardy - amazing! Flavour is puckeringly tart with notes of sour apple, oak, citrus and spice. Finish has a dry white wine character. One of the best and most interesting beers at the massive Thirsty In Toronto tasting party. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 20, 2004 1995 Vintage. Pours a medium golden orange hue, bigger white head. Massive sour aroma, hits you in the face when popping the cork. Lots of barnyard funk, tart apples, and spice in the aroma. Flavor is quite tart, sour apples, a bit of lemon, leather, and some spice. Smooth, dry, sour enough to almost make you pucker. An excellent beer, I’m getting more of this. MrManning (1652), London, Ontario, Canada

Appearance is a cloudy yellow with some orange hues to it. Aroma is very mild, and almost nothing comes to mind immediately. Then I got some fruity aromas mixed with grassy notes. Taste is citrus and spices.Alcohol not present at all. Nice mouthfeel. Aftertaste is minimal. Felt like a 2% alcohol beer. Very easy drinking! joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 18, 2004 1995 Vintage. Slightly cloudy yellow. Wispy, frothy, swirling head. Musty barnyard & leather aroma w/ some tart fruitiness & mild tannic quality. Light, acidic feel. Funky, musty flavour of barnyard, leather, cobwebs, oak, & tart fruitiness (sour cherry? lemon, grape) yet still sweet & malty. Refreshing, quaffable brew. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | May 16, 2004 1995, 750ml corked and capped It pours a muddy brownish yellow (dirty river water) with almost no head. Invigorating spicy aroma full of ginger, coriander, cloves and pepper. Refined fruitiness of tart apples and oranges. At times, the vinous aspects procures you raisiny feel at the same time than the belgian yeast plays its subtle cobwebs crescendo and this is just charming when mixed together. Medium bodied with rather low carbonation. Complex aftertaste with a forever persistant dry white wine character. All in all, this was a delight for which I must bow to Sham. Admirable refreshing and spicy Saison, I think a bit more carbonation would make it even more enjoyable to me. One of those that gets better and better as the end of the bottle approaches and even if it had been a few weeks since I had a 750 to myself, do I want more or much more? jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 16, 2004 Updated: Sep 10, 2007Bottle @ Rudolf’s ’Sourfest’. 1993 Vintage bottled in 1995. Crips golden yellow body with a small foamy white head. Lightly musty grainy malt in the aroma. Flavour has pleasant caramel notes to it (lightly oxidised?). Fairly sweet overall. Average to medium palate. (3+) Not unpleasant, but fairly dull as it was lacking the big funk that IPFreely was hoping it would bring. For real. 7/3/7+/3+/14 - 3.4
<P>May 2004. 1995 bottle. Many thanks to Tim for bring this one up. The George Clintonesque sour tart fruitiness of the aroma is provocative. A pleasant shock to the nose and palate, with a complex mix of spice and fruit at times. Quite refreshing and a nice change of pace. Underrated. 8/3/8/3/18 - 4.0
