Commercial Description:
Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

Though expensive, it’s not worth it. Though Belgian, there is WAY too much French influence in this beer and not enough German. VERY disappointing, though I may be in the minority in saying this. Some other people trying it liked it OK. The aftertaste is quite bitter and dry and unpleasant, while generally being boring.

2009 Bottle. Likely to be my least favorite Belgian ale. Aroma of a surprising amount of hops with some sweetness, due to ABV. Pours a dark gold, but the head is remarkably large, regardless of how carefully poured. Takes a lot of time for the head to dissipate, which makes the drinking process difficult. The flavor is surprisingly hoppy and not complex enough compared to other Belgian ales. Sadly, I was disappointed by this beer. Go with Duvel, Leffe Blonde, or Victory Golden Monkey.

Pours golden with an orange tinge. Thick white head with plenty of little yeasty tidbits sitting atop the foam. Aroma is citrusy with some skunk notes. Taste is mildly tart with a sense of hop bitterness that doesn’t overpower.

750 mL 2008 version into a tulip. Pours a bright, cloudy, neon yellow with a huge four-finger white head. Huge aroma of lemon peel, coriander, and Belgian yeast. Nice spotty to sheety lacing. Taste is very tart and chalky with a very dry body and aftertaste. Some good spicy hops in the finish. Not very funky or barnhouse like some other saisons. Enjoyable but not outstanding. More like drinking chardonnay.

Closing in on 1000 ratings I figured this is definitely a prereq to becoming a "beer god." Pours an unclear opaque bright golden/orange with a medium thinner frothy rocky white head. Lovely sweet citrusy aroma, coriander and orange peel, a bit chalky, spicy hops and a bit yeasty. Not quite as full or flavorful as the Moinette Blonde or the Taras Boulba I just had. Flavor is a bit dull in the mouth, noticeable alcohol over the flavor, lightly tart and fruity, followed by straight coriander and then finishing somewhat bitter and yeasty. Fairly simple and straightforward. Big fluffy mouthful with larger but very soft carbonation, lightly chalky and just a tad sticky. Long bitter yeasty aftertaste. I really like that initial tartness... I just want more of it! [ The bottle says this beer goes great with grilled foods... well this beer actually completely washes out when paired with just about anything besides the most delicate of cheeses] 7.3.6.4.13 [reate 9.11.09] Wow, finally, after 5 or 6 different samples of this beer did it finally resonate with me. This latest 33cl bottle I had was absolutely fantastic and in a different league than my previous samplings. Dry, subtly fruity, some banana, yeast, great crisp palate... much much better this time. 7.4.7.4.14

Bottle... Poured a hazy orange with an easy forming, huge white head. Spiced, tropical fruits on the nose. Nice, refreshing, carbonated palate. Flavor had a lot of malt and breaded grains and roasted, creme brule-like sugars with some citrus fruit. Had gotten a little dry towards the finish.

Bottle. Apperance; light golden, unclear with a big head. Aroma; yest and citrus with a lightly spicy bitter ending
