Commercial Description:
Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

I tried this beer on November 21, 2008 at ‘The Beer Bistro’ in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a cloudy golden-orange colour with absolutely no head. The aroma was grainy malt, some must, and peppery tones. The Mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was full of spice with a nice balance between the malt and the hops. Definitely a peppery taste and feel.

Bottle. Hazy yellow pour, somewhat orange. Sweet pale malt and citrus aroma with the lightest hint of funk and spices. Flavor is the same; the malt has nice bubblegum aspects, while everything else is just balanced so nicely.

One of my favies :D. Pours yellow white head with chunks. Nose was starchy, wheat, banana and citrus. Flavors were again starchy wheat, banana, citrus, and other light fruits.

Spectacular cloudy orange body beneath a huge, rocky white head that leaves giant chunks behind. The aroma is immediately spicy and pepper with lots of subtle funk. Sulfur, wheat, cloves, bread, and honey. In the mouth it’s super spicy but perfectly balanced and deliciously complex. So much complexity but still so drinkable. Pepper, cloves, pine, grass, caramel, bread, and so much more. This brew defines the style and is one of my all time favorites. When I get married, there will be a keg of this at the reception.

Bottle. Looks like a hazy lager. Wonderful and complex aroma. Hints of raspberry and mild honey. The taste is mild but very complex. Wheat, raspberry, orange. Long lasting aftertaste. Incredible smooth.

Beer of beers. Tastes like what a beer is supposed to taste like. Reminds me of that first taste of beer as a youth. Very smooth, almost velvety.

Corked 750ml bottle. BB 11-2010 Cloudy orange-straw body. Dense lasting white head and lace. Fragrant aromatics; whilst the biologique, was very lemony, this is more intergrated, possibly less aggressive on the nose. Bittter orange, unripe peach and nectarine, earthy hop spice and grass, array of spice, clove, coriander, lemon pepper, subtle funky cheese/mould character. Lively carbonation, creamy, full bodied with good depth and restrained acidity. Cereal malt background, hint of vanilla and hay, intergrated stone fruit and citrus flavours, unripe peach and grapefruit seem to stand out, spice melds with the fruit, clove (obviously) and pepper, more to it with a lemon grassiness about it makes me a bit confused whether its a hop or yeast characteristic. Slightly woody dry finish, vinous overall character without overbearing alcohol. This is really tasty. I think it helped trying another Saison beforehand, because I now have a better feel for the style, and its certainly one you can falll in love with quite quickyl Fantastic stuff!
