Commercial Description:
Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

A nose of yeast and hay, similar to the aroma you would find in a Belgian triple. The taste is of yeast and metallic hops. The balance between the sour and the salt is commendable. A nice thirst quencher, but nothing special.

Aroma of yeast, horse and spices. Apperance is light yellow and with a big head. The taste is lightly souer and bitter with hints of hops and yeast. A very well balanced beer with high drinkability.

Serving: 750 ml bottle. Appearance: Cloudy yellow with a touch of orange and a large, rocky, white head. Great lacing and head retention. Aroma: Very light. Dusty yeast and lemon with a slight medicinal note. Taste: Very light and airy. Dust, light lemon, yeast, light malt, and a touch of hops. This beer is changing my mind about Saisons! This is one tasty brew! Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a light, slightly dry mouthfeel. Medium-short, slightly citric finish. Overall: An ethereal beer. Light, airy, and delicious! A visual beauty that drinks as good as it looks. Rebuy: Absolutely!

Bottled 33cl. Ordered from crackedkettle.com. Murky golden with a tall nicely lacing head. Yeasty aroma with hints of orange peel, boiled milk, marmite, dust, candy, a lot of clove, blackberry, tobacco, earthy hops, melon, honey, white pepper, gooseberry and white bread- very complex and interesting yet not really appealing to me. Complex yeast accentuated taste. The clove characteristic is quite present. Some marmite and boiled milk sneaking in. Medium bodied. Subdued bitterness. Sweetish. Long dry finish which is reminiscent of clove, honey and marmite. Very complex and uinque- but I’m not sure I enjoyed it that much.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge white head that lasts and lasts. Nice lace left behind. Aroma is spicy, hoppy, lemon peel, black pepper. Flavor is yeasty, bready, spice, some citrus, lemon peel, and a bit funky in the finish. THE classic farmhouse ale, an absolute please to savor.

Reviewed this one from notes. Pour has the most head I have ever seen. I basically had to have this one poured via dropper to avoid insane head. Thick head is a character I look for in a perfect appearance rating but this one actually transcends that and goes back down to a four for overzealousness. Scent reminds me of Heiniken, which may be a bit of funk over spice, or it may be a bit of skunk. A little worrisome. Taste fares a little better as this is a refreshing drink. Spices, which I would prefer to be rather hidden, don’t make an appearance until deep in the sip, and they are light. Mouth is thin, bubbly and crisp. A good drink, though I’d like to try another bottle, this time from the back of the cooler, to see if this may be a case of saisons gone wild.

Notes from a Dupont tasting at Holiday Wine Cellar. Pours a very cloudy light golden amber. Bright aroma of floral hops, fresh lemon, spices, and yeast. The flavor has mild hop bitterness, more lemon, and some spices (pepper). Medium mouthfeel with a good hop bitterness in the finish. Quite refreshing, and I would certainly appreciate this while working on the farm in the summer in Belgium.
