Ungstrup (11154), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 24, 2007 Bottled. An amber beer with a lot of sediment floating around under a huge white head. The aroma is sweet with subtle spicy notes of coriander and orange peel, as well as a dusty hoppy note. The flavor is sweet, yet at the same time very dry spicy with an acidic note of lemon. The spices include coriander, cloves, and cinnamon. And it all leads to a dry spicy and slightly bitter end, which also has the faintest of alcohol burns in the throat. Refreshing. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 25, 2002 Pale golden colourd, very rich head. Lively, brie-cheese aroma, medium bodied, medium sweet. Spicy, complex, grassy finish. A very well made saison. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 16, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Dupont is usually a guarantee for a top quality product, and this is no exception. Very yellow golden with an almost non-existent head - but the beer is far from flat. Nice fruity head with some citrus in there. Starts citrusy and fresh with a fine, malty body but then you get the very pronounced bitterness in the palate. Hops add balance and harmony to this well composed beer. 190699 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2001 Updated: Aug 25, 2007Sparkling golden tan colour. Huge, mountainous head. Visible carbonation is soft. Aroma is yeasty, with some dust, allspice, baguette crust, and white pepper. Soft palate is fruity (apricot, asian pear), yeasty, and pale malty with an underpinning of rounded, earthy, low co-humulone bitterness. Finish is long, starting with sweet notes of middle eastern honey cake and leading into a dry, fruity (salmonberry, cloudberry) hoppiness. Like Duvel, this beer can be pedestrian from a 33cl bottle, but from larger bottles is stylish, sublime and elegant. yespr (6400), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 23, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours slight hazy golden yellow with a huge lasting white head. Somewhat herbal, spiced and hoppy aroma. Slight sweet malty flavour with a complex blend of spices - somewhat kept low on intensity though. Starts sweet but the spice and hops soon drive this brew into a more dry feeling. Somewhat acidic and citric along the way, with some orange and slight lemon like notes. Very smooth and well balanced.
