Raisins and smoked wood in the aroma. Malty flavour with some chocolate notes. Interesting. [Toronto Christmas Party ’04] tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2004 My first Baltic Porter. Bottle @ Doug’s, Christmas 2004. Dark brown/orange pour. Very strong woody notes. Full bodied mouthfeel. I didn’t get a lot of alcohol in the taste, just lots of straightforward sweetness. Very good. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 21, 2004 Creamy head, rather pale for Baltic. Dark amber. Sweet malts , not to complex . Clean , smooth , medium bodied , some decent roast but sadly to thin and weak . Make it from 16 (?) Plato to 20-22 and would be great. Eructoblaster (1508), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2004 Opaque black body topped with a lasting beige foamy head. Nice coffeeish aroma with chocolate, anise, and date notes. Interesting sweet taste that hides the alcohol very well. Pleasant hints of roasted coffee, and decent warming finish. Good stuff. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 17, 2004 Bottled. Dark brown colour. Small, very quickly diminishing head. Caramelly, strongly coffeish aroma. Toasted malts and heavy coffee flavour. Lasting medicine-bitter finish. Mediumbodied. Interesting beer, but the medicine bitterness somehow spoiled it for me. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 12, 2004 Thanks to whoever brought this to the Toronto Christmas Party ’04. Raisiny nose - Quite sweet. Orangish thin head. Flavor is malt, rasins and grapes. Alcohol is apparent in the finish. Not like any other porter I’ve had. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2004 Bottle at DougShoemaker’s. Very light brown color. More like a mild ale or Brown ale in color. Thin white head. Raisinish aroma. Smooth with a slight alcohol aftertaste. Not bad. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 12, 2004 Bottle. Apparently it was a bit of a fluke that this ended up on the shelves of the LCBO instead of a private order. Interesting. Ruby amber body, moderate off white head. Sweetish malty aroma is muted. Fruity sweet malt with a touch of caramel. Palate is light. Not bad, not great either. Toronto Christmas Party 2004.
