Commercial Description:
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

(cleaning out my beer bottle collection as pictured in my profile and utilizing ratebeer.com) As I recall, this was a very good porter. Flavors were rich and roasty like chocolate. Nice creamy head.

Bottle. Drinkable for its strength. Tasty mild roast flavours, slightly vinous fruit. NOt overly sweet with slight hop presence in the finish. Pretty good and almost sessionable which would be dangerous at this strength.

Bottle. Great aromas of plum and raisin - aka dark fruits. Brownish mahogany color with a beige/tan head that flattened and ringed rapidly. Full bodied with mild, very creamy carbonation. Flavor is definitely those dark fruits, and it calls to mind Old Peculier, but on roids. It’s sweet, and there’s some toasted malt and hop to balance that, but "on balance" the taste and the finish is sweet. But it is wonderful in the mouth. The fruit is just fantastic. Some chocolate notes show up in the finish.

Bottle 0.5 l. Pretty much black with a thick brown head. Roasted creamy nose. Flavor is roasted, not remarkably bitter, malts and creamy coffee with some chocolate. Quite pleasant and easy overall.

Very thick and creamy light brown head. Nice contrast with total black color. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and syurup. Thick palate. I have to say that the flavor is little bit disappointing after great appearance and decent aroma. Flavor is mild with roasted malts, bitterish and metal. No noticable aftertaste.

07/12/07. Thanks to Eric (heemer77) for the sample. Black with a 1/2 finger beige head that fades to a ring. Aroma of roasted malts and sweet dark chocolatre. Flavor has some light roast, molasses, raisins, and is fairly sweet with low bitterness (two out of 10). Medium body with light carbonation. Very good baltic porter.

Black, brown intense head. Aroma is malty, as expected. Liquorice in flavor, decent hops, bitter finish. Feels much lighter than it seems. Not nearly as good as Koff Porter, but a solid brew.

Moderate hoppy and licorice. Huge creamy and light brown head. Excellent lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Black body. Moderate bitter with a tast of licorice. Medium Palate.
