Red-brown colour. Not much of aroma, bit of alcohol. Lively mouthfeel, fresh bottle. Dry bitter chocolatey along with an alcohol touch gives good balance. Bit tarry in the end. sunevdj (1785), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Deep copper with red highlights... attractive, but like no porter I’d ever seen. An orange/tan head started promising but fizzed away in a flash. Peppery particulate hovers and settles. Sweet caramel and other candy-like goodness were a Hallowee’n treat made even more special with healthy whiffs of alcohol. Flavor was sweet & earthen ending sour. A light tingle to finish left a lasting impression of caramel & esters.
The whole of this beer is greater than the sum of its parts... whereas the flavor at first seemed lacking, it rounded out the other ragtag elements and contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Opaque black body with a low brown head that recedes to thick ring with some lace. Biscuity chocolate flavour up front is joined by a high, roasty bitterness. Medium body is very dry with moderate to strong carbonation. Bottle sampled at Plan B in Copenhagen. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark
