Angeloregon (1898), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 9, 2008 Tied this one at Meet The Brewer event at Green Dragon with Larry Pratt--Oaken version--Thin dark brown body with hints of chestnut. Almost no hear but decent carbonation. Sweet malty nose with nuttiness and buttery oaken flavors. Very unique beer. The oak adds a lot to the complexity. bhensonb (2882), Woodland, California, USA Dec 18, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Aroma of light smoke and roasted caramel. Dark, red tinged amber color with a decent white head. Flavor is roasted malt and light smoke. Medium body and medium carbonation. Flavor develops some balancing hop. Finish is pleasant. DA (2421), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Nov 23, 2007 Pours copper with a thin white head. I found this beer unbalanced and cloying. The sweet caramel body just had nothing to balance it at all. Lacked an earthy and spicy finish, which made it a bit bland of a scottish ale for me. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Feb 20, 2006 Full of caramel and toffee and not much else. A very light and very forgettable take on this style. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 26, 2006 Bright caramel colour. The aroma is light, toffeeish and slightly earthy. Fairly light body has but a hint of maltiness. Altogether too quick and indistinctive.
