evilsoc (148), Wales Apr 1, 2008 Luminous hazey golden. Pure fruit hop aroma. There is wheat but not much, it feels like a wheat in the mouth. There is a nice lingering, leafy bitterness. This beer has thrown a few styles together in my opinion and it’s nice. Mes_and_Sim (4365), Highgate, Greater London, England Mar 28, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the Crosse Keys. Bright gold with a good white head and great condition. Big grassy pungent Amarillo and tobacco with a bitter and dry finish. One dimensional but adorable all the same. Fin (2189), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Feb 20, 2008 Cask, handpump at The Bell, Banbury, Oxon 18-02-08 Firstly I’m not convinced with this being a wheat beer, it comes across as more of a pretty decent golden ale. I will add that a few others from North Oxon CAMRA branch struggled to get much in the way of wheat either, but should someone wish to change the style I’m fine with that. This didn’t come out with the big citrusy nose that I was expecting but the more that I got down my pint the more citrus I started to pick up from this. Wonderful clarity and more golden than straw coloured, nice white head, the grapefruit and bitterness starts to take hold the more I get into this pint and I have to say despite my problems with the commercial description this is really jolly decent, a much softer amarillo hopped beer than I’ve had before and it takes a little while to works its magic. Maybe it has got wheat in it and maybe they are softening things on the hop front, whatever it’s really rather nice. maeib (3961), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Apr 4, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Last Plantaganet, Leicester. A hazy straw coloured beer with a white head. A hoppy aroma with citrus notes although it’s fairly subdued. The taste has citrus flavours and is nicely hoppily bitter. A reasonable body and a decent enough beer. downender (1533), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Mar 30, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the Knights Templar (JDW), Bristol 30/3/08. Pale gold with a tight white head. Citrus and pine aroma and flavours with a touch of sweetness. Drinkable but served too cold.
