Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

For the style, I think this is a remarkable beer. It’s the only light beer I can stomach. Overall, though, it’s middle-of-the-road. So 5/5 for "Light Lager", but 1/5 for Lagers in general, so I’m giving it a 3.

12 ounce bottle. Pours an amber color, clear, with a large head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is grain with a sweet finish. Taste is caramel, toasted malts and a fruity finish. Thin bodied. Actually, fairly decent.

For a light beer, this isn’t bad at all. Similar to the Boston Lager, just a little watered down. Good if your watching the calories but don’t want a nasty miller 64.

Not bad for a mass market light beer. There are others that are better than Sam Adams Light but it is no where near the bottom of the pack.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Color is yellow/tan with off-white head. Aroma is mild citrus hops, hay, and grass. Taste is light malt, with biscuits and hay, with slight hop bite. Medium-bodied with good carbonation. Definitely more rich and full-bodied than most light beers, but not sure I actually like it better. Just OK.
