Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

As far as light beer goes it’s one of my favorites, but it’s draw back is that it’s a light beer. This is a dark amber beer that pours with a fizzy head that dissapears quickly. It has a mild malty, hoppy aroma and the taste is a mild sweet malty flavor with a touch of fizz. This is a nice light beer that goeswith just about anything and has a little more flavor than most. If you buy it in the bottle, drink it that way. Pouring into a glass will cause it to go flat fast!

Pours a caramel color with lots of bubbly carbonation. Taste is very light also bubbly air like. A drinkable light beer with minimal flavor. More flavor than your average commercial light beers. A decent light beer that almost reaches the quality you expect from Sam Adams.

Faint bread/biscuit nose. Thin in the glass, not much head. Flavor is very good compared to other light beers. There is some pleasant malt sweetness that lingers on the tongue. Very drinkable and quenching. I definitely prefer big beers, but think this is a good brew for the low calorie style. I wonder if the ratings would be higher if BBC labeled this recipe, "Sam Adams Session Lager."

Bottle from mixed SA 12 pack. Clear amber with not much of a fizzy head. Aroma is dry biscuit malt with some caramel as well. Flavor is bitter biscuit malt and munich as well as a good amount of lager yeast with a tad bit sweetness on the finish, spicey hops as well. Medium body with active carbonation. One of the more drinkable light beers.

12 ounce bottle in a shaker. Pours dark amber with some white head. The nose is loaded with toasted hops and a light noble hop aroma. The flavor seems pretty balanced, but I also get quite a bit of diasytol. Medium body with a balanced finish. Not awful, but not good.
