Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

As a gift from an American friend this past summer - what a treat! I’ve never tried the Boston Lager (readily available in my area), but if it’s anything like this, it’ll be a constant in my fridge! Wonderful lightly-hopped flavour that tastes like actual character and not a watered-down version of something else. Reminded me of a craft-brewed Rolling Rock (another beer I lament not being able to get). As light beers go, I can’t imagine a better one to have. Satisfies without compromising a thing! Great beer!

This has to be the best light beer around. A good lager that has a good hop character and a malty sweetness. It even smelled like a good beer. Crisp, full flavor with a light body and silky finish.

Honestly this beer is just beer in its more simple un-interesting way. Its as if Sam Adams Light was the representation of a generic beer, above piss - below anything of note. Its drinkable but with no discernable characteristics. Copper colour, light head, light body, minimal finish, pretty watery and light. If you fine to taste beer at its most utter standard, there ya go.

bottle. copper pour with thick off white head. Nice lacing. nice malty aroma with subtle hops. nice barley grains. malty finish. Very crisp in the middle. grainy aftertaste. Very nice for a light lager. I am curious as to how this beer is being rated. As a light lager it is excellent. You can’t compare it to Boston Lager. Its not the same beer.

Light amber color with a decent sized white head. Light malty aroma. Light caramel malt flavor. Low bitterness, watery body, minimal finish. Kind of tastes like a watered down Boston Lager. It’s really not bad for a light beer.

Excellent light beer. Look, if you pick up a light beer, you can’t expect full taste and color so you can’t judge this beer against non-lights. Among the light beers, it’s the best I’ve ever had. Nice look and taste. Only downside is that it can have a bit of an odd after-taste sometimes.

Bottle. Decent enough for a light beer but nothing I would ever seek out. Taste is very watered down but not offensive and with the heat of Chicago lately it went down in about 3 seconds.

Smells like light beer. More hop flavor than CL or BL. Tastes like a pretty good beer that is watered down.
