Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

12 ounce bottle in a shaker. Pours dark amber with some white head. The nose is loaded with toasted hops and a light noble hop aroma. The flavor seems pretty balanced, but I also get quite a bit of diasytol. Medium body with a balanced finish. Not awful, but not good.

Goldenish in color, slightly darker than expected. Sort of typical american pale lager smell and taste. Better than most. Florals, hops, and cereral malts in the smell. The taste is a little weak with malts and hops.

not a bad light beer. Very nice on a hot summer afternoon. Solid basic and not as watery as most lights.

Aroma is mostly pale malts with a bit of caramel and hops. Flavor is very similar with a nice balance between the noble hops and 2-row. Decent flavor with a super light body.

The idea that these guys offer a light beer is comical, but I guess the market needs another one, so here goes... pours an orange-copper body that boasts a thick, two-finger head that does not look light.... sweet, malty bouquet; bright and a bit punchy, but still leaves a beer drinker a bit wanting.... body is sturdy, but not heavy--in fact, its lack of hops melows the mouthfeel to an actual light beer approximation--highly drinkable...the obvious absence of hops creates a vacuum--I know this isn;t supposed to be a less caloric version of the lager, but the malt doesn’t bite either... pleasant, with prerequisite thinness and smoothness... did Samuel Adams have to use the silver label as a joke or a jab? as a light, I’d defer to these guys on name alone... the beer is meant for sudsing whatever carbs and grilled proteins you’re eating anyway...
