Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a pale golden body with a white head. Very subtle malt with a light floral earthy hoppiness. Thin body not much in the way of flavor or aroma.

Bottle: Deep bronze with a creamy light tan head. Very mild aroma- diacetyl, caramel, and light sweet doughy pale malt notes. Light fluffy feel. Apparent diacetyl in the flavor. Butery and sweet all over with light caramel and papery pale malt. Not much bitterness or hop character to speak of. Eh.

I am not into light beers, so my rating is a bit lower than if I was judging it against it’s peers. If I were going to drink a light beer, this would definitely be it. It doesn’t have a watery look or taste like most light beers I have tried. Overall a good beer, but not to my personal taste.

This is probably the best tasting light beer that I’ve tried. If you saw it in a glass and didnt know it was a light beer you’d probably think it was some sort of amber lager. It has a nice nose and washes down exceptionally well. Goes really well with grilled chicken, or any type of white meat.

A nice dark golden color, moderate white head and moderate carbonation rate show through the glass. Aroma is noble with some light grainy two-row notes. Flavor has a very mild noble hops note first and then quickly moves into a non offensive, lightly sweet grain bite. It’s a pretty plain flavor but its nice that it is A) not overly sweet B) thin as piss and C) tastes like beer. Overall a very fine light beer and one I could drink if I were on a diet of only 5 beers/night.
