Commercial Description:
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it's not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Very carbonated. Not a very good aroma. Nice white head. Nothing i’d ever try again.

Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is light but of pale and caramel malts. Flavor is also a blend of pale and caramel malt. OK for what is supposed to be a light beer I guess.

Rich amber color; Light to medium body; Aroma and flavor primarily of malt, some hops, and a hint of spice; Not that bland and definitely not watery for a light beer; This is better than some other premium lagers I’ve had; Might be too malty for some - but for me this is a really good light brew.

Golden amber pour into a minimal white head that quickly dissipates into a ring of melting lacing as carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass into a swirling pool of foam. Aroma of malty biscuit with light hint of hops. Initial flavor of sweet bready malt much like the aroma, but eventually fading to slightly bitter hoppy finish.

Poured from bottle into Pilsner glass. Rich gold with decent head. Very nice appearance for a light beer. Grainy malt aroma and slight noble hops. Sweet grains with minimal hop presence. "Beer" aftertaste. High carbonation, relatively light body but heavier than normal for style. Very easy to drink but not exciting. Obviously better than other light beers, but since I view this as a pointless category, I compare this versus the grand spectrum of pale lagers.

12 oz bottle pours an amber color with a white head - darker pour than one would expect from this light beer. Aroma of malt and yeast. Malty taste that isn’t too bad for a light but not one I would go out of my way for.

For a light beer, this is about as good as it gets. Light in aroma and appearance, but that is where it all ends. I can’t believe this has only got a 2.5 rating, definatly the best light beer I have ever had!

Pours deep amber into a shaker. White head recedes to nothing. Sour malt aromas. Dry with cloying malts and a crisp finish.

Amber brown, no head. Very bready aroma. Malt driven, a little spritzy but quenching. Good for what it is but I’m no light beer devotee
