Commercial Description:
Created by Samuel Adams Employee Lili Hess, Hawaii This is a very creative spin on a pale ale. As Lili describes it, "It’s like you are drinking a pale ale after biting into a fresh green seedless grape." This delicate brew is light-bodied with unique sweet, yet dry flavors from the grapes. What a combination...

This is a great clean, crisp hint of grape beer. A nice golden color, firm head, fruity malty aroma, great drinkability, would recommend it everyone.

12oz bottle part of this year’s Longshot 6 pack purchased at Lou’s in Augusta. Pours a clear golden amber body with a good inch of offwhite head. Smells like citrusy hops, malt, and some grape. Tastes fruity, with some biscuit malt and hints of hops. Fairly light in body with ample (but not overpowering) carbonation. An easy-drinker for sure. Nothing wrong with this brew - flavorful, unique, and very drinkable. Not bad.

I really liked this one. Poured a beautiful copper colour with medium head. Malty aroma with fruity notes. Sweet initial taste that finishes with a bit of bitterness. I would have liked more bitterness, but otherwise, a tasty and relatively well balanced brew.

12 ounce bottle from a 6 pack that was purchased at BevMo in Natomas, CA. Aroma has a nice herbal, piney hop aroma with just a kiss of grape in the nose. Lightly metallic with a bit of huskiness. Transparent copper body with a nice, strong light tan head that leaves attractive lacing. Initial flavor reveals some metallic, spicy hop flavors before this becomes quite creamy and malty in the middle. Plenty of toasty flavors with a light caramel sweetness is present. Very light grape flavors are present later with a delicate earthy hoppiness to finish. I don’t know why this is so poorly rated. I think a lot of people automatically pan fruit beers. Unfortunately, this one is well-done and not over the top...the fact that so many fruit beers are overdone ruins the reputation of fruit beers and good ones like this suffer from the negative bias.

Bottle. Interesting! Dark medium amber with a definite reddish tinge and a clingy head. The aroma hints at some high gravity, seemingly, but it certainly doesn’t drink that way. Very light and pleasant with just a hint of grapeiness, sweet and mellow. Nice even-keeled beer. (#3363, 3/30/2008)

Bottle from Bev Mo. I was happy to see this since I had read about the new Long Shot series and the controversy surrounding one of them. Poured with a thick and beautiful white foam head and the liquid was a dense amber orange hue. The aroma was typical of pale ale but also smelled similar to a Vienna and the grape was noticeable and made me want to drink from my glass upon pour. I found a slightly tart presence of sour green grape that tasted ripe and blended perfectly to make delicious pale ale. Although, I did find this ale to be very tasty, I don’t believe I would buy it again.

Poured from bottle 4/2008. More malt than hops in the aroma, with a bit of gas. Bronze with thin lacing head, Seems to equal part hops, malt and grape - and it’s not a bad combo. Maple syrup noticed more as a woody flavor in the aftertaste - not sweet. Mellows at the finish. Well done and unique.
