Commercial Description:
2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

Lots of lace left on the glass from a moderate off-white head. Beautiful ruby-light brown color. Crystal clear. Dry, darker malt aroma. Small amount of cream. True bock style and flavor. Slightly sweet, with a little nuttiness. Very spritzy, which is great balance to rich liquor. Smooth. Light alcohol in the background. Simply said: this is a wonderful bock. I would love to taste this in a blindfolded flight.

Bottle. Pours a deep dark copper brown with a thick off-white head. Aroma was malty sweet with caramel, molasses and had a hint of brown sugar. Flavor was sweet with caramel, brown sugar, toasted malts and some molasses with a medium body and has a nice smooth finish.

Poured from bottle into Summit pint glass. Reddish-brown with relatively thin but persistent head. Dark fruit, toasted malt, and noble hops. Like the smell, but a little too subdued. Semi-sweet fruity and toasted malts. Noticeable cherry and biscuit flavors. Some spiciness at the end due to the hops. Would have liked a little bitterness, but still quite nice nonetheless. Moderate carbonation and pretty chewy despite not being too heavy. Spritzy and pretty smooth. Slightly warming. Flavorful lager that is easy to finish off. Just would have liked a touch more bitterness (like Schell’s Bock).

Pours a deep reddish brown with a huge tight tann-ish head. Aroma has some chocolate, some grainy malt, some well defined raisins, and a little chlorine. Flavor is caramel and chocolate malt right at the start with some dark fruit to finish. Despite these flavors this beer is well attenuated and is far from sweet some light coffee and earthy hop bitterness start to enter the picture about halfway through the glass.

Bottle [12oz]. Pours a nice looking deep amber with an average size frothy off-white head. Aroma, also nice, of nuts, lightly toasted caramel malt, some dark fruit and brown sugar. Flavour’s malty and nutty along with some hops, brown sugar and slight toastiness -- it’s very flavourful. The alcohol is well hidden. Medium bodied. This was much better then expected, everything about it was a nice surprise -- I quite enjoyed it.

Pours a dark barely see through amber/copper with not much of a tan foamy head that doesn’t stay for long. Somewhat big malty aromas of roasted malt, caramel, with some fig/plum with a hit of cherry. Flavors of light roasted sweet malt, caramel, fig/plum, and just a hint of cherry. A good and slightly rich bock at best. Tasty.

Pours a clear dark copper with a creamy off-white head and sheeting lace. The nose is a nice, sweet, toasty caramel malt with a lightly yeasty supporting note. Light-bodied with soft carbonation and a tight, toasty and steely/bitter finish. Round, toasty, caramel malt with a fruity, yeasty finish. This is pretty solid. In fact, it’s one of the better bocks (dunklers) I’ve had. It’s too bad that it’s a one-off brew.

Bottle - Thanks Toby! - Pours brown with a medium off white head...aroma is fruity yeast and a bit of roast, sweet...flavour is similarly malt forward, doughy and yeasty with a sweet and slightly hot finish...pretty nice dimension from Sam Adams...
