MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 25, 2008 Yeasty cloudy brown with small off white head. Nice fruity yeast notes in aroma with carmelized/roast malts with some bannana and lots of peppery clove. Flavor includes some fruity malt sweetness with spicy hop and yeast phenolics. Medium mouthfeel with some nice spicey hops in the finish. Nice job. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada May 25, 2008 Full roasted malt aroma, pleasing wheat too, cloudy brown, tiny toffee head. Flavour is a burst of roasted malt, lovely wheat kick too. Medium bodied, very well balanced, great mouth feel, entirely too easy to drink. Terrific! Thank You Torontoblue. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 24, 2008 Shared with Maltdawg and Maniac at the JRHB brew day. Pours a murky brown with tan head. Sweet aroma and flavor of plums and raisins. Pretty good. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 24, 2008 Very cloudy dark brown body with a medium creamy off-white head that rapidly dissipates. Sweet banana and light clove aroma, some yeastiness. Very spicy flavor, some more light banana and clove, some caramel. Medium body with moderately low carbonation. LinusStick (1830), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 22, 2008 A very well done and delicious weizen bock. Aroma was near perfect. A strong blend of banana, clove and yeast. Pour was a deep murky brown with a nice 2 finger almost tan head. Taste was very full and big. Strong bread, light fruit and banana in the front with a nice bitey carbonated aftertaste. This is a great representation of the style. Feinschmecker (176), Seattle, Washington, USA May 21, 2008 Bottle. Spicy aroma with a hazy amber. Light on the palate and not at all syrupy. There is an intangible herbal element. Great interpretation of a style not attempted enough in the USA, IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA May 19, 2008 Poured a hazy dark amber with a large fluffy/creamy off-white head. Powerful aroma of cinnamon and coriander, apple cider, banana. Flavor is also strong though some parts just feel a bit too prominent. This is really heavy on the banana and clove. Also prevalent are some cinnamon and apple cider. Not especially sweet, and even finishing a tad dry. Body feels decent though I would have liked it a bit fuller or livelier. Although it almost comes across too assertively, I am impressed by the flavor profile here. I appreciate Sam Adams giving kudos to the hard-working members of the homebrew community, but I would like them to come up with more flavorful beers like this one on their own. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 17, 2008 A murky brown appearance with a beige head. The aroma contains some sour grapes, chocolate, raisins, and nutmeg. The flavor is a little bit sour with some grapes, lemons, chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar. A bready presence in this one as well. Overall this was a good beer!
