I would like to rerate this beer.
shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 10, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy tan head. Aroma is yeasty, clove, banana, wheat, and bubble gum. Flavor is wheaty, caramel, clove, banana, bubble gum, and a bitter spicy finish. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 10, 2008 Pours a transparent dark bronze copper with a lightly-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and malted wheat with an authentic estery clove and banana character with German yeastiness. Starts fairly full with the right amount of carbonation and malty sweetness with some peppery clove spice and bready yeasty flavor before the slightly drier, crisp finish. Very true to style and enjoyable. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA May 9, 2008 12 ounce bottle from a 6 pack that was purchased at BevMo in Natomas, CA. Aroma has plenty of banana-like yeast esters. Light molasses and light sweet aromas are also present. I also detect some nice clove notes, too. Pretty aromatic and pleasant. Moderately hazy dark amber body with a medium, tan-off-yellowish head. Nice lacing. A little dry roasty malt flavors to start, before some yeasty banana and clove-like esters take over. Some dry and wheat-like flavors take over at the end. Light bitterness and light roasty choco notes at the end. Pretty good stuff. jsquire (2086), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 Murky brown color with a fluffy biege head. Nose of bananas, brown sugar and some clove spice. Lots of banana in this one, with brown sugar, raisens, plum, and hot spicey cloves and alcohol. Almost too hot. Finish has an odd orange zest bitterness to it. Strikes me as a little harsh. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA May 9, 2008 Quite dark and unfiltered with a nice musty fruity wheat aroma. Small short lived head. Roasted malt, spice, and clove flavor. Alcohol flavor and warming effect. Very smooth and creamy in the mouth. A spicy effervescent aftertaste. Unique and interesting. VERY good. blkitson (132), Westerville, Ohio, USA May 6, 2008 Two thumbs up to Rodney Kibzey for an outstanding brew. Not usually a dark beer person, this was a very good beer. Pours a very nice dark color. Has a slight aftertaste of anise which is quite a surprise but makes the beer just right. I would say that Sam Adams should keep this one around for awhile. BuckeyeBoy (1635), Boise, Idaho, USA May 4, 2008 12oz Bottle Pours out a hazy brown topped with a cream head. A nice aroma of malt and spice. Tast of clover spice and more malt. Very tasty. i would say that Mr. Kibzey should get a nice PAYDAY from the fine folks at The Boston Beer Company
