djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a medium frothy light tan head. The aroma is clove and bananas. Good lacing on the glass. The taste is a very sweet malt with banana and brown sugar. A good Weizen Bock from Sam Adams. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. Luscious aroma starting off very bubblegum, watermelon candy, other candi fruits, pepper (as a personal note, this is the first time I’ve managed to get the pepper scent I always read about here; woot!), also almost a woody sort of scent, all in all evolving more into the raisin/plum/prune realm (though the bubblegum and pepper remain). Flavor from the beginning in the dark fruit range, very nice, but not as diverse/original as the aroma. Pepper also remains, just couldn’t get it out of my mind once I captured it. Body is decent, I’m never overly impressed with the mouthfeel of any sort of bock, maybe it’s just me, but it always seems a little light for the flavors, but nothing truly negative about it. Very nice brew, and I’m sure I’m one of many who loves the LongShot concept. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark hazy brown with a beigh head. Aroma of banana, clove, light caramel, wheat, and notes of dark fruit. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavor is a wheaty dark malt, clove, banana, toffee notes, fruit and a bit of spice with a low bitterness. Good brew valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Mar 24, 2008 Happily snagged up a single of this as I really wanted to avoid the grape PA that came in the sixer. Pours a deep mahogany with a thin head that is as persistent as any I’ve seen in some time...there’s a film on the top of your beer from start to finish! Aroma is sweet and wonderfully tantalizing...lots of malt character with underlying spices, banana, and some bubble gum. Flavor lives up to the aroma, and then some! Tons of banana, wheat, clove, some nutmeg (and maybe some cinnamon), all on top of a great sweet malt and wheat base...this is seriously what a Weizenbock should be! No let down on the palate either...nice and creamy while stopping short of being overly heavy and a burden to drink. Wow, Sam Adams better sign this up for the long haul...although I’m far from trying most of their brews, this one is definitely near or at the top of the list of those I have tried...great effort...now, sell six packs of just this beer please! SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 24, 2008 Sweet smell on the toss, has that typical and wonderful weizenbock smell, bullseye on the nose .... Great Head and proud german with socks and sandals lacing .... is very nice and full on the first sip... a damn fine example of the weizenbock genre!.... next time, just include one grape pale and the rest this beauty! ..great stuff!... SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Mar 23, 2008 Bottle from Bev Mo. Created a dark brown color that was very gloomy and hard to see through. The foam head on top was a perfect white layer of cream and almost mimicked how Guinness draught looks once poured into a glass. As for the nose, I found a delighting presence of true German styled yeast that had banana and clove that I began to drool for. The drink itself was easily quaffable and had a delicious banana and semi sweet malts that just hit the spot on a hot day. I can only imagine this beer tasting better from the tap. Nice job to the recipe maker and brewer for bottling it. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Mar 23, 2008 excellent..massively murky, ruddy brown body...aroma of banana, clove, and spice..flavor is hugely spiced, with large banana, walnut, and chocolate...hints of wheat as well...as a contest winner, this ranks supreme fiver29 (703), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 23, 2008 Bottle pours a dark brown haze color. Cream head lasts a while and has a medium-light mouthfeel. Smells like fruit and cloves. Tastes are very complex and has upfront fruit with some spice finish. I would brew with this guy anytime.
