TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Mar 10, 2008 Pours hazy dark brown with a mostly maintained foamy tan head. Aroma has lots of banana, little bit of clove with some caramel notes. Tastes of estery bananas and toffee. Medium to full bodied with lush carbonation. The best LongShot beer I’ve had yet. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 9, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was sweetish, yeasty and malty with notes of banana. The flavor was sweet, tangy and fruity with strong notes of citrus and banana and a light hints of clove and bubblegum. The finish was long and malty with banana and bubblegum lingering. Wonderfully complex. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 9, 2008 Bottled. Beer is clear, very dark brown. head is initially huge, off-white, frothy. Diminishes, mostly lasts.
The aroma is malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of decadent cookie, toasted grain, lighter notes of brown sugar and malt extract; Hoppy with light notes of flowers and herbs; Miscellaneous notes include light keys of tree sap/aspen bark/chicory, vanilla and wood. Nose is really sweet for what would be a leaner style.
The flavor is big. Light-to-moderately sweet, light-to-moderately acidic, lightly bitter with a long, lightly warm, trace acidic, lightly bittersweet finish. Dull bitterness in the aftertaste.
The body is medium the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is lively. Slepkov (18), Ithaca, Alabama, USA Mar 9, 2008 Appearances can be deceiving. This relatively unattractive hazy dark brew smells and tastes like a masterful heffeweizen about twenty shades paler. On the nose banana, coriander and warm yeast dominate. Malty notes are noticeably absent from such dark a brew. Alcohol is also noticeable. Tasting, this beer has ample warm coriander, with clove and yeast. Decent level of malt balance this excellent drink. Near perfect body. Impressive showing from an oft-disappointing franchise. Pastor (509), Maine, USA Mar 9, 2008 Bottle poured in to my Weizen Glass produced cloudy brown with a slight head that left lacing
Aromas of wheat (Belgian yeast) bubblegum
Bananas and spice
Flavors are the same as the nose
Mouthfeel is medium to full and creamy on the tongue
A great homebrew, I think is worthy of being in the box. I wish that they brought this one on to there line up, it would be an awesome seasonal
Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 9, 2008 Pours a deep mahagony reddish brown with a lasting medium to small head. Aroma is on the sweet side with tons of caramel malts typical bana and dried fruits esters and a light phenolic vanilla as well but definitely skewed towards sweet and fruity. Flavor is also sweet and sticky with caramel malts, toffee, nuts, light chocolate, fruity esters, banana and fusel alcohols. Pretty smooth overall. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Mar 9, 2008 12 oz bottle, from Longshot six-pack, BevMo LaJolla. Pours cloudy chestnut brown with golden highlights when held to light and an off-white head. Toasty aroma with burnt banana, smoke, molasses, herbs, dark brown bread and yeast. Sweetish flavor of over ripe bananas, yeasty black peasant bread, wheat, lemon, herbs and floral hops. Full body, with light carbonation. Not bad. cainede (9), DuBois, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Mar 8, 2008 Looks like muddy water. The worst long shot I’ve had. A very disappointing year for the long shot mix.
