Commercial Description:
Created by Rodney Kibzey, Illinois Rodney describes his wonderfully complex brew as "deep amber in color with a full creamy body and a dark fruit and clove aroma." This traditional Bavarian style brew took Rodney a few batches to perfect, but the taste is worth all of his hard work.

The cloves, bananas and wheaty qualities are a bit overpronounced but that makes for an enjoyable beer which goes well with the hops (sniffs like the nobles from other Sam Adams beers). The company should dump one of its flagship beers and replace it with this! This is like the Summer Ale with flavor. There is a medium-dry palate with a shade of fruits. I wish it was just this one and not the Grape Ape beer in the sixer/case.

Darker cloudy brown appearnce but certainly not on the black side of dark. Hefty wheaty aroma, has a little volatile punch to it, like any good w bock. Has gunk on the bottom that leads to a swirling hypnotizing visual effect when you near the bottom of the bottle. Good wheat flavors with the typical spices feel. You can tell it is above average in the alky content but it does not come across like the +7% listed here. The only hint of the alky content is on the finish where it has some malty alky medicinal linger, somewhat like cough medicine.

Bottle and served in my Aventinus glass: A murky brown hue with an initial large foamy head which produced very good lace. The aroma has notes of toasted and caramel malts, banana, clove, lemongrass esters, walnut, and some floral hops. The taste is a lot like banana nut bread with a spicy and herbal finish. Some smoke and nutty qualities found as well. The mouth feel is smooth and refreshing with a medium body. Overall this is a very good example of the genre but sadly you need to buy the crappy grape ale to get this. Worth a try for sure if you can singles.

Bottle. Glad to see this one rated highly. Pours a beautiful, cloudy tea-brown with an aroma of chocolate covered banana, and a hint of raspberry. Tart clove greets the taste buds, quickly followed by his buddies caramel and sweet molasses. These friends leave a wake of nice thick and tangy film on the tongue. Very refreshing and tasty beer. Definite repeat.

Bottled. Pours dark brown, with a nice tan head, leaving good amounts of lace. Nose is cloves, esters (banana). Flavor is wheat malt and bananas--the banana bread comment of the previous reviewer is a good one. Finish is slghtly sweet. Medium mouthfeel. Nice example.
