JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Aug 1, 2008 Very hazy, murky brown in color with a small light-brown head that falls to a thin ring. Aroma of caramelized banana, toffee, sweet wheat and walnuts. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter flavor with caramel and herbal hops and a nutty finish. Very light alcohol detected in the aftertaste. Still, a fantastic offering - Boston Beer Co. would be foolish to not produce this regularly, or at least seasonally. tomthompson89 (1453), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 30, 2008 Good but not as good as i expected, with the percentile, murky brown color, decnt off white head, nose is clove, banana. flavor is sweet, some alcohol bite, clove flavor. decent finish but still kinda a let down Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 28, 2008 Maybe I need to try this again b/c I couldn’t finish it. Wasn’t bad but just sort of boring and to sweet and not much wheat flavor. Maybe I shouldn’t be comparing to Aventinus either but they did pretty much set the standard. Palidor19 (1748), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 Well done, has got a real clove taste and smell that reminds of Autumn ham, the malts are nice and plentiful with the a strong hop body. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 10, 2008 The aroma is very good and quite sweet. The aroma has juicy fruit bubble gun, banana, candy sugar, and dark malt. The appearance is deep red with an impressive head. The flavor is like the aroma with cloves. The palate is smooth. Overall a good beer. ucusty (1865), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 8, 2008 Hazy brown pour, thin fizzy head. Sweet malty nose. SOft clean mouth-feel, malty flavor. For me it was a little too much clove det2nj (31), Newark, New Jersey, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours deep, dark red-brown out of bottle. Not a ton of head or carbonated fizziness. Creamy, soft mouthfeel with fruit + spice in the wheat brew as advertised. Great aroma.
This should be adopted into normal production by Sam. Great recipe. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle. Nice looking pour. Sweet smell and taste. Not bad for a Sammy. I would drink a couple more.
