alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2008 Dark ruby brown color with an off-white soapy head. Aroma of fruit, clove and spice. Taste of malt, fruit, and bananas. Hint of alcohol. Nice taste. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 22, 2008 12 oz, bb July 2008. Nearly opaque copper-chestnut with a three finger head that lasts and laces well. Aroma is spicy wheat, clove, banana-raisin bread, slight bubblegum and alcohol. Thankfully, the flavor has all the same components, plus toasted nut and slight chocolate. Medium-heavy body is smooth with some tongue tingle, and nice dryness on the finish. Cheers and well done, Rodney! BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Jun 20, 2008 This pours a dark cloudy reddish brown with dark brown and even some darker stretches along the sides of the glass, has a good size off-white and tan head that recedes a bit, there is some creamy tan lacing left on the glass, big ripe banana and unsweetened dried fruit aromas, along with some dark malt and bread, a little bit of pepper, I got a faint phenol smoke fragrance here and there, flavor of dark bread, dark fruit and dark sugar sweetness, I could feel just a touch of the alcohol warmth on the palate, has a good full mouth feel, a very good tasty wheat beer, S.A. should market this as a regular offering. fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Jun 18, 2008 Strong and sweet - Lots of pepper and other small spices. Big sweet malt base with a lot of belgian esters and yeasty components. Bananas play second fiddle to what is a very strong pepper component with a lot of belgian candy sugar sweetness. Slight wheat maltiness. Really nice drink overall, suprisingly good. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 18, 2008 In the bottle at the 2008 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours a cloudy light brown. Ecru head. This little treat has lots of big esters. The bananas are HUGE in this. Lots of fruity dark raisins in the flavor. I really like this a lot. Baumgartner (108), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Jun 18, 2008 Poured from bottle to glass. 2 finger head of a nice tan color. A very sweet malty aroma. A excellent brew. jmw141 (134), Canton, Illinois, USA Jun 14, 2008 Bottle to glass. A large frothy head that is light-brown in color and most diminishing stand a top a cloudy chocalatey brown brew. Moderate malt aroma mixed with light hoppiness gives way to citrus and a strong banana scent. Stronger malt flavor and more banana tease the tongue while the average finish is dry and alcoholic. Good, but I couldn’t drink more than one in a sitting. Very full. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 THOUGHTS: A really nice beer. Seems like a ramped up Dunkelweiss. I wouldn’t mind seeing this as a year round offering from someone.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark brown with great carbonation and an average-sized, creamy, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was light to moderate milk chocolate malt, light to moderate yeast, wheat, spices and a hint of banana. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter and sour with a short to average duration. There was wheat, chocolate, some spice and maybe a hint of banana. The medium body was creamy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish.
