I would like to rerate this beer.
argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Apr 29, 2008 (12oz bottle, best by 7/08) Small, quickly dissipating off-white head atop murky dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, clove, banana, caramel, some bubblegum. Taste is moderately sweet, clove, some bubblegum, banana, caramel, raisin. Medium body, some creaminess. CaptainCougar (4633), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 10, 2008 Pours a transparent dark bronze copper with a lightly-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and malted wheat with an authentic estery clove and banana character with German yeastiness. Starts fairly full with the right amount of carbonation and malty sweetness with some peppery clove spice and bready yeasty flavor before the slightly drier, crisp finish. Very true to style and enjoyable. hopdog (4552), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy brownish color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of bananas, cloves, wheaty, and I was getting some smoked meat in the background (took me a while to place it). Tastes of bananas, citrus, lighter spices, and some dark fruits. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 10, 2008 Bottle: Thick muddy brown pour, very little head or lacing. Nose of clove and strong yeast esters, some bread and rye stuff going on as well. The flavor is sharp with esters, a dark banana fig sweetness coats the palate. Light hops, subtle roasty toasty notes. A bit low in carbonation for this much sugar and alcohol, it’s a bit hard to drink. Unbalanced almost. I like the intensity, but there must be a better way to bring cohesion to this chaos.
