Smells like burnt grain, some chocolate, and coffee. Light notes of milk chocolate, burnt malt, and a slight spice to it. smooth texture, with a bit of funk in the aftertaste. Reminds me of a thin porter, or really thin stout.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Bottle. A reddish dark brown beer with an almost tan head of very moderate size. Quite neutral on the nose, some caramel and roasted malts, but not much. Roasted malts, caramel and a touch of coffee in the mouth, medium body. Roasted finish with caramel. A quite decent beer, but surprisingly boring. Hope I’m not prejudiced. Don’t think so, it didn’t ring any bells at all. (090116) Elwood (684), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 27, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Deep black color with a rich, very light tan head that leaves behind nice lacing.. Coffee, toffee notes on the nose. Medium carbonation with coffee, walnut flavors. Crisp mouthfeel with no lingering aftertaste. A lager that wants to be a stout. Overall not bad. fromred2green (170), , Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Bottle. Deep brown color. Really surprised me. Lots of roasty and chocolate malt. Nice hops and bitter notes. Feels like a lager, but tastes much better. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
