Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Pours very dark brown with a nice tan coloured head. Aromas of roasted malted and chocolate are noted. Good earthy taste nicely accented by the sweetness of caramel and chocolate. Decent bitterness throughout. Solid beer.

Offwhite head on a dark brown body. A nice brown beer worthy of cold winter avenis. Very nice drinking, but lack some originality

black color, purplish highlights, tiny brown bubbles for a head, some lace. nose of chocolate, mild roastiness. flavor of bitter coffee, toffee, unsweetened chocolate. medium bodied, oily mouth feel, dry finish. not a bad beer from what i think is the biggest u.s. owned brewery. sampler case bought @ sam’s club in matteson.

Dark brown pour with a decent tan head. Nice light aroma of malt. Flavor is lacking to say the least. Light malt flavor balanced well by light hop bitterness. But just because it’s balanced well doesn’t mean it’s great. Like most SA’s beers, this one just tastes watered down compared to others. I used to love this beer long, long ago...like 2 years. Oh well, it will always have special place in my heart.

Looks like a coke in my glass with an off-white (very off) head. Mmmmm, malty goodness. This one suprised me. I’m not the biggest SA fan but this I like. Aftertaste had slightly tobacco tones. yummy.

Bottle. Pours dark red, almost black, and fairly thin. No true single distinguished smell. Drinks and feels like a lager, but a higher malt tones. Nice combo.

A nicely uncomplicated beer, it tastes like a very smooth lager. I was tasting with some friends and many were afraid of trying this because of the heavy appearance. After some coaxing, they tried and liked it quite well. A testament to this beer’s style.
