Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Not an amazing beer by any means but it’s better than most. gary07734 (408), Tyne & Wear, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Nice looking black pour with a decent head, good thick mouthfeel. Smell is burnt malt and sweet, taste is an unusual mix of burnt malt and lager, not unpleasant but odd, a little cloying on the finish. Not convinced by this one but interesting. rcasta (489), El Salvador

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 23, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at Lukas Liquors in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is ruby accented deep brown black with a nice tan two inch head. Falls with popping carbonation bubbles and hardly any lacing. Aroma of smoky maltiness, rounded sweetness. Taste is the roasted malt initially, with some dark chocolate and milkiness right behind that. A touch of tobacco in the longer finish. Palate is thin, its drinkable for certain, but perhaps somewhat watery. Overall a decent beer. Dango (26), Snekkersten, Denmark

Not a big fan of their products but this was good. It didn’t have that weird finish that the rest of their beers seem to have. Tasted like more of a porter than a lager to me. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Very smoky and enticing aroma and taste both, slightly too malty to drink often but one of the better Sam Adams I’ve ever had. joebudzjoe (232), Connecticut, USA
