Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Pours deep, dark black. Not much head, good lacing. Nose is dry roasted malt. Taste follows suit, some dry roasted cofee beans, a little bit of cookie, bready malt. Palate is more than adequate, creamy. Very enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Very dark brown pour, with a decent tan head that left a fine lacing. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt. Very malty flavor, with little hoppy bitterness. Malty yet crisp finish. My first schwarzbier, definitely inclines me to seek out some of the top beers in this category. Thanks Sam!

Poutrs murky dark brown with a 1 finger beige head, that fades to a rather thin layer that leaves patches of lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate malts, dried fruit and some sweet spice cookies. Flavor is lots of roast malts, chocolate, homemade pralines, molasses cookies. Hops come in toward the middle and stay with the finish, mostly spicy a little bitter, interesting hop notes but they don’t last too long.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick and lacy tan head. Sweet aroma of caramel, chocolate. Light body and moderate carbonation. Lightly sweet and creamy taste of molasses, figs and chocolate. Clean dark chocolate and straw finish. Could stand a bit more bittering, but not a bad Schwarzbier, although it might be flirting with the "No fruitiness, esters." rule.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Deep brown color with dazzling ruby highlights. Ecru head of a half finger that displays average retention and lacing. Aromas of cocoa, milk chocolate, and graham cracker, with maybe a little sweetened coffee. Very alluring smell. Flavor is more roasty, with dark chocolate and some char to go along with some light caramel. Hops play a minor role but are spicy in nature and a welcome spot of balance. Mouthfeel is typically Sam Adams: just a little too thin to support the flavor profile. Still one of the best of their regular lineup.

Dark roast and chocolate malts with hint of spicy hops. Clear very dark amber brown with small tan head. Light Body with medium creamy mouth feel. Finish is malty with touch of grain astringency and bitterness. Yeah I really like this beer.
