Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

This beer started me down the road of looking for good beer. It’s also my favorite sam adams. Pours deep black, with small tan head that disappears quickly. Smells roasty, fruity with hint of spice. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, dried fruit, cream. Very smooth mouthfeel. More of a late-night dessert beer, because it is pretty heavy.

Smooth roasted sweet caramel malt - soft fruit notes with some earthiness and rye-type bits.

Not one of my fovorite sam’s. The malty ness and darkness do not convine, they separate. For a lager it should have more of a crisp finish but this def. lacks.

Dark brown with medium head. Wonderfully smooth with tastes of chocolate, burnt malt and light coffee. High carbonation is a bit much. Dry finish. A bit thicker than many schwarzbiers. Minimal fruity esters. One of my favorite styles, and at this price this is a solid one.

Bottle. Pretty good stuff...Much like a porter...dark with a roasted taste. Went down quick smoothly. Some coffee flavor also

Pint glass. Dark, medium-bodied with a nice chocolate note. Hops add a bit of bitterness and bite that stand up nicely to the malty sweetness.

From LIC, Aarhus, DK. Bottled. 020508. Balanced sweetness to a roasted barley dryness. OK hopping.

Nice malty aroma of coffee and slight hint of chocolate. Semi sweet semi bitter taste was nice.
