Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Bottle. Pours very dark brown to black. Weird aroma that smells predominantly like fried rice. Smooth roasty taste balanced with caramel. Nice beer.

Decent roasted aroma. The roast flavor is a little more mild than the nose would indicate. Body is a bit thinner than I had hoped. Decent Sam Adams release but with room for tweaking.

aroma was of burnt coffee and dark chocolate. very dark color with some carbonation and small tan head. tasted like burnt coffee and roasted chocolate and had a hoppy finish. It went down easy and that was okay but it left a burnt wood feel in my throat that i didn’t care for. this was an ok beer but I’m just not sure what they are going for on this one.

Presentation in the glass and the aroma are a bit let down by the taste, still this was fairly drinkable for a macro. Milky coffee in the taste, some roasted and chocolate notes in the aroma.

Objectively speaking: Clean, highly filtered, rather crisp state of the art schwarzbier.
I like: Clean all throughout. Well extracted malts. Aimed at drinkability, but still focused. Soft nutty tones. Casual coffee undertones.
I dislike: Very clear cola colour. Powdery aroma. Perhaps a bit sweet: not very roasty, but distinctly caramelly. Forced carbonation.

Bottle. Brownish black colour with a tan head. A bit thin on the nose - some roasted coffee beans and sweet liquorice. Thin to medium bodied with notes of roasted coffee beans and sweet liquorice. The finish is dry with a hint of bitterness. I’m not that impressed by this effort.

Bottle-I felt this was a mediocre beer at best. It lacked the flavor and body that you would expect from this type of beer. Maybe the bitter malts and over roasted possibly burnt character put me off. Might need to try it on tap.

deep, rich roasted schwarzbier. Unique malt taste and good body make this an enjoyable drink.
