Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Pours dark brown with some caramel highlites. Small tan head. Sweet molasses, toasted malts, chocolate, anise, and caramel. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, caramel and molasses. Sorta thin body with plenty of carbonation. Easy to drink and pretty tasty. my favorate samual adams beer

Pours dark cola brown and is quite transparent at the edges when backlit. A small, fizzy, light tan head dissipates quickly, leaving not much behind on the surface. Random flares and spots of lacing dot the glass. The aroma shows burnt caramel, artificial chocolate, and simple syrup sweetness. The scent profile is pretty bland, and not very inviting. Unfortunately, the flavor is just as lackluster. Sweet, dark caramel meets sugary chocolate and not much else. It’s sweet for a Schwarz, with very little hop or roast bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium-light, finishing clean but slightly sticky. Drinkable, but far from great.

aroma of sligthtly roasty malt, light chocolate character, hint of munich malt. lightly lacy head doesn’t add much to the eye appeal, it is almost nonexistent. great mouthfeel and malt profile, lightly hopped. pretty decent

This is a style that I’ve enjoyed a couple of times in the past year, notably the Sprecher Black Bavarian. This poured and deep black with abundant carbonation and dissipating tan head. Very malty aroma of caramel and licorice. The mouthfeel is a bit thinner than I expected. It sits lightly sweet on the palate with flavors of light semi-sweet chocolate and hints of licorice. This is nice, but on the whole, just not nearly enough taste. Light on taste.

Pours black with an off white head. Smells like chocolate, tastes like chocolate. Not bad but has a thin feel to it.

Lets hear it for another great offering by Jim & the boys!! A good example of a schwarzbier yet there are a few surprises along the way. It has a bit more hoppy zing than you normally find in this style. But not a bad thing. So until Spreacher or Black forrest is w/in my grasp I will continue to reach for this readilly available exixer.

Nice and clean flavor. Light chocolate and spice. Not a lot of hops, but the malt flavors make up for it. Great around the holidays.
