Commercial Description:
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Bottle pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt and yeast. Opulent mouthfeel. Flavor is roast malt, chocolate, dark caramel, yeast, and finishes dry. Not too bad.

My mouth is filled with the flavor of coffee beans and chocolate malt. This beer has a very clear and defined roasted taste and aroma. Not my favorite, but it’s not a bad beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a very nice dark brown color with a lasting 2-finger beige head and some lacing. Aroma is roast, anise, chocolate, coffee, earth, and caramel. Flavor is nice with chocolate and caramel malts, substantial anise, roast, and a touch of earthy coffee. Long finish and a smooth mouthfeel with medium body. Nice offering from Boston Beer.

Moderate aroma featuring caramel, chocolate, and bread. Very deep red color; almost black. Pours a thin tan head which dissipates quickly with no lacing. Pleasant dark roasted malt flavor with just a hint of chocolate. Medium body with a thin texture and very light carbonation. A nice sessionable malty brew.

Dark brown, almost black but with strangely clear edges. A small off-white head that quickly settles into a ring of lacings. Sweet malts in the nose, a light burnt sensation, toast, some coffee notes. Hints of grains. The taste is mostly of sweet malts with notes of molasses and burnt caramel, coffee and a faint smoky note. Restrained fruity flavors. Quick hint of lemony hops. The finish is short and quite bland with mineral flavors, bread and grain. Medium body, crisp carbonation. Not very exciting. Not a bad beer, but certainly nothing exceptional. What a delicious chocolatey beer. i wasn’t expecting too much fromthis one, but I really loved it. It’s got a ton of flavor, a nice malty sweetness and a good medium body. For being under 5% abv, this sure brings a lot to the table and presents no off flavors. It’s not going to blow your mind, but I could easiliy seeing this becoming one of inexpensive go-to beers. Good job SA!

Bottle. Poured black in color with a small light brown head that dissapated in seconds with fair lacing. The aroma was very light with a hint of roasted coffee malts and a light doughy yeast scent. It tasted of burnt coffee slightly sweet with a bitter finish that stayed with you for a while. Mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with an oily texture but quite creamy. Overall qiute a nice tasting brew.
