KajII (50), Macon, North Carolina, USA Nov 9, 2009 Bottle. Poured yellow-orange in color with a large fizzy white head that had virtually no lacing. The aroma was that of light bready malts moderately sweet with a heavy raspberry odor. It tasted of sweet malts with a strong raspberry finish that only lasted a short time. Mouthfeel was light with a watery texture. Overall not a bad beer but not a great one either. Brandman (94), Helsinki, Finland Nov 8, 2009 from notes: Hazy golden body with lasting white head. Dark berry aroma, wet cardboard and a cellar. Flavour has same, but more berries added. Smooth and ok mouthfeel. Just another fruit beer that is unnecessary. 6ROW (243), corpus christi, Texas, USA Nov 6, 2009 copper pour with a small white head. over the top on blackberry aroma and taste!!! not my go to beer but fun to try BrewingFan (44), Texas, USA Nov 3, 2009 Aroma is an impressive shot of blackberry with a hint of citrus. Cloudy but a bit on the lighter side for a witbeer. Head thins out pretty quickly. Flavor is a burst of blackberry, exactly what I could of hoped for. Very smooth and refreshing, but not overly complex, one would say one dimensional, but I love it. Exactly the change of pace I look for. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Nov 2, 2009 Bottle: Poured a hazy orangey color ale with white haze and a medium foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of blackberry and wheat is sweeter then I had anticipated but still very much enjoyable. Taste is well enough balanced between sweet blackberries and medium wheat malt. Body is fuller then average with OK carbonation. Not bad overall thought I prefer my Wit without fruit. bsp77 (191), Minnesota, USA Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into Summit pint glass.
Hazy orange, but no visible sediment, lively bubbles and head. Appearance reminds me more of a Hefeweizen than a Witbier.
Major blackberry smell, similar to a wine cooler. Smell is a little too one dimensional and mild, but pleasing nonetheless.
Slightly sour orange and coriander upfront but the blackberry quickly becomes noticeable. The blackberry is evident but not overdone. Nice balance overall. Slight peppery aftertaste.
High carbonation, fuller than expected.
Very refreshing. Unique Wit and actually prefer it to most standard Wits I have had, including the Sam Adams White Ale.
Better than expected. Nice job Jim!
Chapel (329), Levittown, New York, USA Oct 29, 2009 Fairly unremarkable in most regards. Tastes rather like a regular wheat, with a bit of blackberry in the middle. Finishes mildly sour. exparte (3), Texas, USA does not count Oct 29, 2009 Nice golden color. Medium carbonation with no lacing at all. Blackberry flavor and aroma is pleasant but overpowering. Needs a far stronger malt backbone to balance.
