Commercial Description:
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Typical of what you would expect from a fruit flavored beer but this was the worst. Poured quite light and a small head. The aroma was of pungent fruit. Not impressed at all. Was overall very gross.

Another candy ass fruit beer from Sam Adams. I knew this wouldn’t be good because blackberry brandy sucks. Cloudy golden pour with a white head. Berry aroma. Shit taste. Shit beer. Sam Adams needs to grow a set with this beer.

There is a slightly sweet berry aroma. The flavor starts out as somewhat sweet and then ends with a flat wheat flavor. The color is darker orange than yellow and it pours with a medium head.

This bottle, obtained at the great pub in the Egremont Inn in Egremont, MA poured a clear amber with a fat white head. Nice nose of blackberry and yeast. Clean, smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is very crisp and enjoyable. Good balance between the malts and blackberry. Refreshing.

Pours the color of rotting wheat with a quickly dissipating head. Smells like a blackberry soda with hints of dried fruits. Tastes like flat blackberry izze and wheat. Not very appealing on the tongue, mouthfeel is water and flat seltzer water. Not very good...kind of bland actually.

[Bottle] Pours a dark yellow color with a decent amount of white head. Strong aroma of artificial berry and sweet malts. After the initial whiff, I was pretty concerned about the flavor. I was surprised to find a more natural berry flavor than the aroma might suggest. Some citrus and wheat malt comes out in the flavor as well. Having said that, this beer is still pretty sweet and lacks much in the way of body. Honestly about that I expected, but it could have been a much worse experiment (like the Root Beer brew Sam Adams used to sell).

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small off-white head. Aroma of blackberry, wheat, yeast and has a hint of orange. Flavor was orange zest, sweet blackberry, wheat and some light citrus with a clean and smooth finish.
